In ballet, the term "waltz" most often refers to a specific step, commonly known as waltz turn. However, the step can also be done without a turn and may also be referred to as "waltz pas" or "pas de waltz." Waltz pas begins with a dramatic brush of the foot (the accent is on the first count), which is then proceeded by three steps. As the dancers steps into the third step, he or she turns.
